If you are reading with me, today we are on Proverbs 26. (Remembering what to read in the Proverbs is as easy as remembering the day’s date when you read them with me.) That being said:
Today’s Reading: Proverbs 26
Using SOAP devotional method, here’s what I heard…
Scripture: Proverbs 26:11
Like a dog that returns to his vomit
is a fool who repeats his folly.
Observation:
Don’t go back and repeat your mistakes.
Application:
Yesterday the verse that stood out to me was one about having too much honey (Proverbs 25:27). Today I am hearing my Father remind me not to repeat my mistakes.
There are things I do that I know I shouldn’t, and yet I tend to repeat myself and continue to do them. Ugh.
I really need to STOP the insanity! I need to stop being like a dog that goes back and ingests his vomit, just to do it again. (That is a pretty nasty analogy, isn’t it?) Instead I need to rid myself of those habits and replace them with better ones.
Prayer:
Lord, please guide me. Please help me to see where I am going before I lead myself into making the same mistakes. Guide me in recognizing the point where I make bad decisions and then guide me to stop myself. I want my actions to glorify you. I want them to be honorable. I certainly don’t want to be like that dog. Please guide me in stopping and retraining myself where I need it.
Thank you, Father.
What about you?
