Daily SOAP Devotion: Acts 4 #SOAPDevo

bible-study-post

Good Morning!

If you are reading with us, I’m so glad you are reading the Bible with me and the rest of the MomsToolbox community! (And if you aren’t, we’d love to have you join us.)

Here’s our Daily SOAP Devotion reading for today:

Acts 4

This one had a verse jump off the page at me. I was gripped by a passage that brought to mind a friend’s son. Here’s what I heard using the SOAP Devotional Method:

Scripture: Acts 4: 30

… Stretch out your hand to heal and perform miraculous signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”

Observation:

Lord, heal those and show your undeniable power and glory.

Application:

I read this and the words leapt off the page at me. Like really leapt. There was no denying what I was to hear today.

My friend Mardon’s son has been fighting cancer courageously for way too long. Things aren’t looking good for him here on earth. There have been trials and tests and travel and pokes and suffering and angst and prayers, prayers, and more prayers.

It hurts me to think of the struggles her family has faced. And the struggles so many others also face.

I want Jacob to be healed. (I want everyone who is suffering to be healed.) And now, now that things are at the grimmest they have been for Jacob, it’s not looking like healing is going to happen.

And yet this verse grabbed me today and Jacob came to mind.

Prayer:

Father God, I don’t know why some are healed through your miracles and why others are not. I do accept that it is not for me to know or understand, but that is hard.

Please, Lord, stretch out your hand to heal and perform miraculous signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus. Please, Lord, heal Jake and all those others who are suffering. I know you have the power to do it. I know you have a master plan. Lord, please soothe the suffering. Take away the pain. Heal those who are calling out for you and help us to see your hand in all we do. Please, Lord, I ask you this in your son’s name.
