Day 5 of the New Testament in 40 Days– it’s getting deep, y’all

Matthew 24-27

Happy Friday and Happy Day 5 of the New Testament in 40 Days!

Today our reading assignment is Matthew 24-27.

I’m not gonna lie: Today’s reading is deeeeeeep stuff.

We’re reading about signs of the end of the age, preparedness for that, (with even an instruction on praying about it) and then ending with Christ’s crucifixion. Yes, yes I did choose to have us end there and sit overnight before going on to the next chapter on purpose.

There is a LOT going on. There is a LOT to take in. Your head may be reeling. Your heart may be troubled. But, please, keep going.

The beauty I see behind and beyond all of this icky stuff is that He IS in charge. He IS on our side. He WANTS us with Him and He shows us the way… He shared all that in the pages before this. Now we sit in His crucifixion.

Tomorrow we read of His rising and then we get to jump back in and start hearing so much His wisdom from Mark’s perspective starting tomorrow. (That, my friend, is another beauty of reading the New Testament at such a breakneck speed.)

If you have questions, which I bet you do, write them down.

Pray about them. Hold onto them… and keep reading. Don’t go digging just yet. Be still, know He is God and listen. Then, when we’re all done on day 40, if you want to go dig deeper then, go for it.

For now, just read. Be that caterpillar in the chrysalis. Pause. Listen. Get messy inside and wait.

He’s got this.

In Love,

  1. Maybe this isn’t just a history book of powerful poems and stories after all…
