Scripture: Luke 21: 34
“Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with dissipation, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you unexpectedly like a trap.
Observation: Jesus is instructing us to keep waiting and watching for his return. He knows that the troubles of the world can get in the way, but he does not want that to happen for us.
Application: I must keep worshipping, listening, and praying through all times. If I allow myself to get caught up in worldly troubles, I might miss Jesus’ coming. So instead of being wasteful, turning to alcohol (or other vices) or becoming anxious, I should focus on Jesus and wait for his return. I need to turn my cares over to Him and listen to his guidance.
Prayer: Lord, you know of all the troubles we are facing now… and what may be around the corner. Thank you for this reminder to turn to you and not let worldly challenges separate us. I need to focus on you. By focusing on the problems, I am taking my focus off of you. Guide me in the path you want me to take. And keep me focused on you.
