Last night I went to my first hot yoga class. This morning I went to my second. Tomorrow will be my third and then I’ll take a day or two off.
I had been thinking about it for years but, at 90 minutes, the classes seemed too long for me to want to work in and have to push something else out. I’ve enjoyed yoga off and on for about 10 years, but had not made the jump to the hot stuff. And, aside from the time, I have always been leery of trying a new yoga studio for fear of any groovy, non-Christian stuff that might emerge.
Yesterday morning a friend shared with me that a studio somewhat near us is now offering “express” classes at 50 minutes. It had been months (maybe a year) since I had been to yoga at all.
I checked the studio website and decided to give it a try.
And I am so glad that I did.
It was HOT in there and I sweated like it was July in Houston… except it was by choice this time.
The studio was great. The instructors were fantastic at explaining the poses and reminding newbies when to take it easy. And I barely noticed my cellulite in the mirrors. Plus it was all exercise and relaxation… Nothing groovy or anti-Christian at all.
I think I just might schedule my Bible reading right before my classes for awhile so that I can reflect on my reading while I stretch.
Tonight I am starting to feel a tad bit sore in a few new places. Hopefully tomorrow will stretch me back out again.
And hopefully I’ll get the hang of it and see (and feel) some great results. I’m throwing myself in for a month as I ease back into MS150 cycling training. Then we’ll see what’s next.
Just had to share in case anyone has any tips… Anyone?
I’m off to go drink a big glass of water and relax!
