Getting ready to read the Bible in 90 Days: Check in posts

Accountability is a key factor of success in the traditional Bible in 90 Days groups which meet weekly in person in churches and communities all across the United States. Unfortunately we don’t have the opportunity to meet face to face each week, so I had to shake things up a bit to create some online accountability.

Enter weekly check-ins.

Every Monday I will publish a post and invite require you as Bible in 90 Days readers to check in and let the rest of us know how you are doing in your reading.

This serves to give you a measuring point each week where you should be caught up and evaluate how you are doing. It also allows me, your mentor and the rest of our group to know where you are and how we can pray for you, encourage you or be inspired by you.

If you are a blogger, you are invited to publish a check in post on your own blog and link to it using a linky  I will have posted. Please link to the MomsToolbox check-in post from the post on your own blog and also leave a brief comment on MomsToolbox.

If you are not a blogger, or are not blogging about your Bible in 90 Days reading, please check in every Monday by leaving a comment on the check-in post for the week. Your comment can be as brief (I’m up to date yee-haw!) or as elaborate (This was a very tough week for me and I fell behind. Does anyone have any tips for catching up because I feel so far behind but I don’t want to be…)

The important thing is that you DO check in one way or another. This is our only accountability tool and I take it very seriously.  (When I facilitated groups in person we had different colored name tags to wear if you had read or not. And, yes, there were meeting days I read like crazy so as not to have to wear the ‘wrong’ nametag color.  And, yes, I do believe that helped me to complete my Bible reading.)

This time around I want to be sure that people are checking in as they should and are doing so on the days that should. (It’s better to admit falling behind than put off checking in. Really.) Check in posts will go live near midnight CST every Monday and comments and the linky will close at some point between 2 a.m. CST Tuesdays and when I wake up Tuesday morning.

Please find a reminder system that works for you and check in each and every Monday. I want you to succeed. And I am going to help you succeed. But there are a few rules and this one is definitely here to help. So, please, follow it.

That being said, our very first check in post will be this Monday, July 5, our first day of reading. On that day I would like for you to check in with a comment or post that tells a little bit about yourself and perhaps why you have decided to read the Bible in 90 days with us. You can start on this post now if you are a blogger and publish it or hold it, but be sure to link up on July 5.

After this initial ‘getting to know you’ check in, our check in posts will solely be about the reading and your progress. I will not require any other writing from you…  just lots of reading and a quick check in once  a week.

I am really looking forward to getting to know each of you in the coming weeks. Thank you for trusting me to guide you through this process. It is going to be an amazing journey we will be taking together!

I’m up to page 170 and hoping to read a few more pages tonight. Sunday’s sermon at our church was about Sarah and Abraham. It was so nice knowing exactly what our pastor was talking about and to also hear our pastor’s insight about how God comes to us and fulfills his promises to us.

  3. Found it-and it’s a linky, not a leaky! :) I’m not only caught up now, but I’m ahead, and you can see some more details on I guess was the twitter site. I got confused! It would be great to have the check in right at the beginning or highlighted in bold somewhere so it stands out. What a blessing this is! It’s a challenge to keep at it and I need to take my eyes up off the page and look off into the distance to rest my eyes before I look back again. But, taking notes helps me to focus and after about 5 chapters the rest of the time just seems to fly by, but of course that’s not hard and fast. It’s the impression I get as I look back that I think I become less conscious of the time and more aware of all that is on those pages. Each day I’m praying that God will speak to me through these pages and keep me alert as to who he is as I look for patterns and more revelations about who he is through what he expects.
    Blessings,
    Jan

I am struggling, but I will catch up. With Christ all things are possible! I hope this is where I am supposed to check in weekly because this is also what I did last week.

Hi! I have really been excited about this reading! I just finished Exodus 32 today, so I am three days behind the up to date ones. The weekend readings didn’t happen, because somehow, I assumed it was a 5 day program and I was already a day late. I don’t know how to find the right link to report. Next week I’ll try again on the right day. I signed up to twitter, but this is my first time, so I don’t know how that works. Anyways, I have lots of observations and new insights! What a blessing!
