Scripture: Nehemiah 9:28
But as soon as they were at rest, they again did what was evil in your sight. Then you abandoned them to the hand of their enemies so that they ruled over them. And when they cried out to you again, you heard from heaven, and in your compassion you delivered them time after time.
Observation: God forgives and forgives and forgives. How is he so patient and loving?
Application: What a perfect parent God is! He allows his people to rebel, and receive the pain it brings, until they see their wrongs and ask him for his guidance once again. And then he receives them, cares for them and guides them… until they rebel the next time.
Prayer: O Lord, how amazing you are that you can allow us to grow and make our mistakes. And, although we disobey repeatedly, when we call out to you and repent, you are right there, waiting with open arms.
Help me to model that love in my own parenting. Guide me in rearing my children your way: with forgiveness, graciousness, compassion, and to be slow to anger and abounding in love (Nehemiah 9:17). Thank you for loving me and accepting me, even calling me back through all my sins.
