As I have mentioned, I am one of the very few Crockpot challenged. I wanted to succeed at being a slow-cooker mama, I just couldn’t seem to get it right. Until now.
Since I became blissfully married nearly 10 years ago, my slow-cooker meat always tasted like paper with sauce on it. What happened to the juicy days of tender meats and delicious dinners?
After a little research I was lead to A Year of Crockpotting, and I learned that my crockpot was cooking too quickly.
Those tender, juicy crockpot meals were prepared on a hand-me-down slow cooker that I handed down when I got a brand new one after getting married. The new ones were hotter, and therefore by following many slow-cooker recipes, my meat was being overcooked! I should have kept the old, slow one!
But that one is gone. Someone else is loving it, I just know it.
And through the years I have searched for the solution, spending lots of money on new slowcookers.
I don’t think this is even all of them. I think I’ve given away one or two. I just couldn’t abandon the dream.
Well, did you see that black beauty on the top left in the photo? The six quart Rival Crockpot from Target?
That sweetie is my answer! It has a temperature probe and it is helping me achieve crockpot perfection!
Yesterday I loaded up the crock and stuck the probe in a chicken breast.
And last night my husband finally commented that I had finally reached the right consistency in the slow-cooker. And he was right! It’s finally working for me!!
Wooo-Hooo! Guess it’s time to subscribe to the crockpotting blog… I can finally join the club!
And if you have any can’t miss crockpot recipes, I’d love to hear the details. I’m ready to slow cook!!
