Living as He intends

Scripture: 1 Peter 1:13-14

¹³Therefore prepare your minds for action; be self controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed. ¹⁴As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance.

Observation: I am instructed to:

1. Educate myself
2. Control myself
3. Focus on the grace I receive through Jesus Christ
4. Be obedient by turning away from the desires that distance me from God. I should use the knowledge I am gaining of God through Christ to set my path.

Application: Where do I need to change my life to live as He intends for me to live? Am I preparing my mind for action? Do I exercise self-control? Am I fixing my gaze on Jesus’ grace or on worldly things?

Prayer: Thank you Lord for your gentle reminder. Please guide me in preparing my mind for you and in keeping it sharp. Please point me in the right direction of my studies so that I can know you as you intend for me to. And so I can share you with others. Guide me also in being self-controlled, to choose the right actions and be mindful of them. And help me to keep my focus on you and your grace. It is so easy to get distracted and be pulled in the wrong direction. Please keep me close. And thank you for continuing to keep me close, even after countless mistakes on my part.
