Does the site of this make you a little nervous?
Do you have any clue what to do with all of these?
The gym kind of freaks me out. Yes, I can ride my bike 180 miles in two days each spring, but the idea of exercising on funky equipment or using weights totally intimidates me. The gym and I have never been friends.
But I’m hoping to change that.
And this guy thinks he can help… I’m paying him to help, so I sure hope he is right!
I re-joined Weight Watchers three weeks ago and the brilliant people at 24Hour Fitness have an arrangement with Weight Watchers such that our meetings are right in their facilities. Smart, huh?
So if I am already planning to be on-site once a week for the meeting, and since I do have a little time before the meeting that I could use, why not give the gym a try? I only need to add a few other trips there each week and I’ll be golden. Right?
And so I joined. And today I met with a trainer. And he showed me a few things.
Poor guy… I don’t think he had any idea what he was getting into when he accepted me as a client.
I doubt he has had anyone else ask him to take so many photos… especially when that person feels like a total idiot and is attempting to learn proper form.
But, I’m having fun
and learning a few exercises
and I’m on my way to a year-round strategy for losing weight, getting strong and staying that way. (The cycling is great, but I need something to keep me going when it is blazing hot outside, when I travel and something I can stick to even by myself.)
I am hoping to learn exercises to do in a gym, as well as on my own at home. And I’d like to learn how to run, too. I am planning to run a 5K in about 2 weeks, so I’d better get crackin’!
I’ll keep you posted as to my progress, as long as you promise not to laugh at me or make fun.. okay?
Gulp. Here I go!
Anyone have any tips? Have you ever used a personal trainer? Do you have questions you think I should ask?
