Marriage Tool Tuesday: Coming Soon!

Late-breaking news: Michael Smalley has just agreed to contribute to this new weekly feature, sharing his expert advice!I am so excited! (And hoping to wrangle Amy in, too!)

Now on with the story…

In the next few weeks I’ll be launching a new twice-a-month feature here on MomsToolbox to help you grow your marriages in a healthy way.

Am I a marriage expert? No. (But now I’ve got one on-board!!)

Do I have this whole marriage thing figured out and have birds chirping beautiful love songs around my husband and me daily? No.

But do I have an fantastic partnership with a man I love and respect? Absolutely!

And are we committed to each other until death do us part no matter what? Yes!

I believe there are a few things we’ve done very well in our marriage and, yet, I also know that we still have a lot to learn and experience.

Marriage Tool Tuesday will appear on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month and will be a combination of stories sharing my experiences, as well as guest posts where other writers and a few experts will share theirs, too.

Just to get ahead of any controversy, our discussion will remain G-rated and will discuss ideas for marriages between a man and a woman. Comments not within that scope will be deleted.

My hope and prayer is that Marriage Tool Tuesday will help us to better serve our husbands and get even more enjoyment out of the partnership of marriage.

So that it can successfully serve your needs, I’d love your input and ideas:

What types of things do you struggle with in your marriage or in your role as a wife?

What issues would you like to read about to strengthen your marriage?

What do you feel you and your husband have done well? Is there anything you are particularly proud of in regards to your marriage?

Did you transition well into marriage or were there a few challenges to overcome? Do you mind sharing what those were?

Was marriage just what you expected it to be?

Do you have a story you’d like to share as a guest post? Send me an email and let me know!

Thanks so much for your input. I’m looking forward to the launch soon!

  2. This is a wonderful idea. I think you’ve got some wonderful topic’s lined up already. I know not every marriage is the same so I think a variety of topics will hit personally to each marriage.

    Topics:
    Transition to parenthood.
Supporting each other in major life changes, loss of a family member, new job, moving, etc.
    Keeping the romance alive.

  4. This is my 2nd marriage. My 1st husband abandon me in our 3rd yr of marriage because being married to me was prohibitive of his drug use. Actually, aside from his drugs, we had a good marriage.

“What do you feel you and your husband have done well?”
    We haven’t killed each other.

The one thing I pray for nearly every day is that he will discontinue his lip service about being a Christian and become an authentic Christian. I desperately desire that marital relationship where we pursue Christ as one. But whether or not I see that transformation in my marriage, my greatest desire is that my children will continue to walk strongly in the Lord and that God will provide them with godly spouses.

  5. Hello–I don’t see where to send you an email.
I’ve blogged about our marriage and what God has done (is doing) during my husband’s incarceration.
I’d be happy to share as well.

  6. I have so been praying for something like this, my husband and I have traveled down broken roads, not only before we met but after we were married as well, yet we are going on 12 years, stronger than ever before and we owe it all to God. I would love to share some of our testimony. THANX!!

  8. This is a great idea! Gosh, I think the hardest thing for me and my husband is prioritizing the kids. I feel like they need me and they are definitely more vocal about it, so I always seem to put them first! I know better and I try, but it is so hard (they are young). My husband does the same thing also, we tend to let them interject and find it very difficult to spend time alone!
Can’t wait to see your series!
