This week’s prompt might, on the surface, seem a little strange. But I had a reason for including it. I think the memories that will come forward from this will have a lot more to do with just something to keep out the cold.
Week 15’s prompt is:
Tell about a favorite or memorable winter coat, scarf, or hat.

What do you think? Do you agree?
I don’t have an overwhelmingly remarkable story, but one that makes me think about how kind my husband is.
Several years ago we were watching “The West Wing” and one of the characters, Helen Santos, was wearing a gorgeous white wool coat. I said something about how beautiful the coat was, but how impractical it would be for me to have one living in Houston.
Fast forward a few years…
It’s almost Christmas and my husband tells me he bought me a Christmas gift, but that he thinks I should open it early.
You guessed it. It was a gorgeous cream-colored wool coat. And it fit perfectly.
The fact that he remembered my comment about the coat and then bought a similar one for me– and remember, I live in a place where I only wear the coat about 3 times a year, really touched me. I loved that he remembered and did something about it. And every single time I put on that coat I feel a little rush of warmth and love from his sweet gift.
What is your story?
You might have a memory that pops in your mind about wearing your ‘big coat’ as a little girl. Or it might be a memory of donating your coat to someone in need. Or it might be about the time you lost one glove in New York City on the way to an amazing party.
What ever it may be, record your memory on this week’s Memories to Share sheet and keep it to share later or share it tonight over dinner.
