I hope that you have been enjoying Memories to Share. It is my hope this series will guide you in recording family stories and personal memories to share with loved ones, as well as help you to ask others to collect Memories to Share with you someday.
One kind reader wrote in just after I launched the series to ask if she could have the year’s worth of questions early so that her mom could record her stories sooner due to a health condition. This inspired me to compile all of the questions in an ebook which I will soon offer here for FREE so that those who would rather have all the questions at once will also have that option. Stay tuned and I’ll keep you posted.
For now, though, here’s what I have for you this week.
Week 5’s prompt is:
Describe your military experience or that of someone in your family.

Here’s a glimpse into the beginning of my story:
My brother joined the Navy when I was still in high school. I remember him trying to recruit me. I twirled flag and rifle in the marching band at school and he told me I could be in color guard in the Navy, too. I turned him down.
Through the years I have been so proud to be his sister as he’s been working hard to help keep the rest of us safe.
He’s an awesome guy who adores his wife and 7 kids and still works hard to keep the rest of us safe and freedom alive. He was just recently deployed to the Middle East. I am thankful our country has smart guys like him on our team, but I am, of course, concerned about him and want him to stay safe. Most of all, I am awed by his dedication, and that of his family, too.
What is your story?
Please record your own stories about any military experiences in your family. And please add my brother and his family, and all the others who are serving us to your prayers this week, if you can. Thanks.
You can tell your story on this week’s Memories to Share sheet and keep it to share later or share it tonight over dinner. You may also share here in the comments, if you’d like.
