I drive my boys to school from the suburbs of Houston into ‘town’ three days a week. My husband takes the other two. Sometimes they are sleepy guys, sometimes we talk, sometimes they work on homework.
This morning, I glanced to my right as we were about to rise on an overpass and saw a river of white lights about to go beneath the highway I was driving. We were listening to classical music.
I asked my 17-year-old son what the haiku rules are. And then I wrote this, as we both laughed a lot and he reminded me to keep it about nature:
Morning Commute Haiku
White lights flowing into town
Piercing the dawn. hello sun
Souls flowing, work begins
And then he added:
it is snowing on mt fuji
Aaahhhh. The joys of the commute!
Happy Monday, friends!
