Guard His teachings. Proverbs 7

If you are reading the Proverbs in 31 Days with me, today (Monday) we are reading Proverbs 7. If you missed the start, feel free to jump in right where we are, or start at the beginning of Proverbs and catch up. Either way, I’d love to have you join us.

Here is what I heard in the reading:

Scripture: Proverbs 7:2

Keep my commands and you will live;

guard my teachings as the apple of your eye.

Observation:

Make my teachings a priority and protect your knowledge and understanding of them.

Application:

I’ve heard this over and over the past few days.

He wants me to put Him first. He wants me to guard my time with Him and guard what I learn. He knows how much better my life will be if I just listen, cherish and follow.

And every single time I put Him off in favor of something else, I am depriving myself of His wisdom and guidance.

And really, each time I put Him off, it IS a choice.

Prayer:

Thank you, Lord, for your teachings. Please continue to guide me. I need you, there is no doubt about that, and I am so thankful that you are always there when I call for you. Please, Lord, continue to guide me in making choices concerning my time and efforts. I know that when I seek you first, things turn out so much better. I will work harder at protecting our time and seeking your wisdom. Thank you, Lord, for being there… even after I have put you off.

What about you?

What did you hear in today’s reading? Feel free to share your thoughts on my SOAP observation, or share what spoke to you in the comments:
