A Chapter of Proverbs a Day…
Scripture: Proverbs 13: 4
The sluggard craves and gets nothing, but the desires of the diligent are fully satisfied.
Observation: Simply wanting something won’t get it for you. Working hard for it, bit by bit, will.
Application: If I really want to achieve something I can’t just ‘want’ it… I need to work, diligently, until it happens.
If you really want to read the entire Bible, you have to be diligent about it and set out to accomplish that goal. Just hoping it will happen and reading bit by bit won’t get it done.
Likewise, if you want to be a better parent, wife or whatever, that takes diligence, too. And I could use a little more diligence there.
Prayer: Lord, I come to you today asking that you help me to see the priorities you have set for me and guide me in working toward those alone.
I feel pulled in so many directions and, sometimes, I leave the most important things by the wayside.
Guide me in being diligent where you know I need it. Open my eyes on what to scale back on and what to work harder on.
I need you to help me in clearing my path, Lord. I cannot do it alone.
** I’d love to have you join me in reading a chapter of Proverbs a day in April. Feel free to jump in with today’s date!
