A Chapter of Proverbs a Day…
Scripture: Proverbs 27: 18
He who tends a fig tree will eat its fruit, and he who looks after his master will be honored.
Observation: Diligence, consideration and duty will be rewarded.
Application: Perhaps God is saying here that we should tend to the tasks set before us diligently, and that this will reap reward and honor. I’m not sure how to address the part about looking after my master, except that perhaps I should be caring well for those who rely on me.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for this reminder that you want me to be diligent in the jobs ahead of me. Laziness will not bring a reward, but diligence will enable me to see the fruits of my labor. When I am feeling lazy, please bring these words to my mind, Lord, so that I will remember that I am called to work well. And please replace my selfishness with love and compassion as I am caring for others. Thank for the privilege of caring for those you put under my care. When I am tired and cranky and don’t want to do another thing, please remind me of your love and the privilege I have in caring for others as your daughter and loved servant.
PS: Thank you so much for all your input from my SOAP confusion yesterday. I really appreciate your help!
