Day 11 of the Psalms in 60 Days
Today’s Reading: Psalms 28-30
Scripture: Psalms 28:7
The Lord is my strength and my shield,
my heart trusts in him, and I am helped.
My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song.
Observation: I recognize that my strength and protection come from God and this brings me joy.
Application: This is one of my favorite verses for cycling. When I am tired, the first part of this verse so often comes to mind. And I had to smile this morning as I read all of it again because I always sing at least one song of praise to the Lord when I am cycling long distances. But I had forgotten that to be a part of this verse. I am so amazed at the strength He gives me and cannot help but be thankful and sing out in praise.
(Really. This is true. And I never expected to be one of ‘those’ types of people. But I guess I am!)
It just amazes me how much strength I have on my bike. I was never an athlete growing up, so I fully recognize this ability as coming as a gift from God.
I am still adjusting to realize that my other abilities also come from Him as a gift, but it is the cycling that is so obvious to me.
Prayer: Lord, thank you so much for being my strength and my shield in all areas of my life.
It is so easy for me to see that when I am on my bike, and I thank you for that. Please forgive me for the places in my life where I want to take credit for my successes or where I want to move forward without seeking your guidance and your strength as my backbone. Thank you for giving me so much strength and protection anyhow. You are amazing how you continually give.
Thank you for your forgiveness when a bit of arrogance shines through and thank you for showing me where my strength really comes from. It is all from you. And the more I rely on that, the more my heart will leap for joy in song. Thanks for this gentle reminder. And thank you for giving me such incredible strength in so many ways.
