Day 6 of 60 Days of Psalms
Today’s Reading: Psalms 16-17
Scripture: Psalm 16: 4 (partial)
The sorrows of those will increase
who run after other gods…
Observation: Those who put other things above God and ‘worship’ them will find sadness and sorrow.
Application: It is so easy to think that I only worship God and do not run after other gods.
But what else do I allow to get in the way of my relationship with God? What do I have to do while God waits for our time together? Am I allowing that other activity or thing to be worshipped before God?
Prayer: Lord, please guide me as I allocate my time and energy so that I am worshipping you alone and living my life with the priorities you have set for me. Forgive me when I check off other less-meaningful tasks and push aside prayer time or study time with you and make you wait.
Just this morning I justified to myself why I should answer blog emails before coming to you in prayer.
I should have started with you, first. I am sorry, Lord. Please forgive me for shoving you aside, if even for a moment, when I knew I should have started with you.
Please guide me in keeping you first and worshipping you alone, Lord, and then take my guidance from you as to how to manage the rest.
Tomorrow’s Reading: Psalms 18
