Searching for a new devotional

For the last month, I have been transformed while reading, journaling and praying through the The Frazzled Female: 30 Days to Finding God’s Peace in Your Daily Chaos devotional.

The good news for you is that if you are looking for a new devotional, I cannot recommend this one enough. It made me think about things and put my focus right where it needed to be: On God’s messages to me.

The bad news for me, though, is that I cannot find a new devotional to take its place.

First I thought I’d do a study on my own, so I picked one up and started working my way through it. It felt like I was just filling in blanks, as I am one  who likes to write and reflect more than that, so that didn’t work.

I went back to the bookstore to find another devotional to use as a guide, bought one and tried that, but one didn’t work, either.I just cannot find one that suits me. Does anyone have any to recommend?

I didn’t realize I was so picky, but most of the ones I found were year long devotionals, and one year is a long time for me to commit to one devotional guide. (Am I the only one that feels this way??) Plus, many were dated and it’s December, not January, so where would I start anyway? (Starting a book so near the end just feels really weird to me.)

The ones that weren’t dated or a year collection of some sort still didn’t speak to me at all. And I know there must be wonderful ones out there, I just cannot find them. I’d like to finish out the year with a great devotional guide and them maybe hop back into SOAP’ing through various books of the Bible in January.

So, dear readers, if you are looking for a great devotional to center you on God and help you look inside your own hectic crazy life as a woman and put your focus where it needs to be, I think you should give the Frazzled Female devotional a try.

And if you have any ideas for me as to a devotional I should try, please share in the comments. I need your help!

  1. This looks great! Have you tried Spurgeon’s Morning and Evening devotions? I love it!

  2. Amy, I feel the same way. After finishing Bible in 30 I just can’t seem to find what to read next. I started over in the New Testament but I miss the structure of a plan so ill be stalking your blog to read comments:)

  3. There’s a follow up bible study that I just found while checking out your link to this book on Amazon..Victoriously Frazzled Bible Study.. it looks good too! :) http://www.amazon.com/Victoriously-Frazzled-Bible-Study-Cindi/dp/1415832021/ref=wl_mb_hu_m_3_dp

    1. Thanks, Theresa.

The study you mentioned is the one I tried, as I thought it would be a great follow-up It has great information and insight, and I did like what it had to share, but I needed more space to write and let my thoughts flow, so it wasn’t right for me.
