Scripture: Romans 1: 12
that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith.
Observation: Christians can build each other up and strengthen each other’s faith
Application: Fellow believers can build each other up by seeing and hearing about each others acts, and by studying and growing together. The concept of an accountability group or partner is a long-standing concept. By working together, believers can keep each other strong in their faith, and continually reaching toward God.
Hmmm. It’s interesting that this passage should come up today.
I’m planning to begin reading the Bible in 90 days again starting January 1, concluding just before Ash Wednesday, and I’m hoping to build an online community to help others do the same alongside me. Yep… read every single word of the Bible in 90 days, from Genesis to Revelation, in order.
I’ll be promoting the reading challenge all month, and a few other bloggers have offered to help by promoting the program on their sites this month, as well.
Here’s who else in on-board so far:
- The Happy Housewife
- Daily Dwelling
- Smockity Frocks
- Amy’s Finer Things
- Kingdom First Mom
- It’s Almost Naptime
- A Simple Walk
- We are THAT Family
- Amy Loves It
- Sunflower Faith
- Run the Earth, Watch the Sky
Do you want to join that list and either read with us or promote the challenge on your blog? Please leave a comment and send me an email. I’d love for you to join in the adventure!!
I’ll host a tweet chat the evening of December 14, to answer questions and invite more Bible in 90 Days readers, and I’ll be giving away materials this month to help anyone who wants to do it get every word read.
We’re going to build each other up and strengthen each other’s faith… so we can all be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith.
I wasn’t planning to post this many details yet. But when I came across this verse it made me think that perhaps I shouldn’t rely solely on my plan—that God has something for me to say today.
So… if you’ve ever wanted to read the whole Bible (as 72% of Americans who haven’t yet say they would like to do) here’s your chance to do it with an accountability group, so we can be mutually encouraged. I’ll fill you in on the details soon. But in the meantime, pray about it. And pencil in the first 90 days of 2010 in your calendar as the days you just might read the Bible cover to cover.
Prayer: God, you never cease to amaze me. And yet I still want to do things my way. Guide me to put more of my life in your hands, to release myself of planning and plotting and strategizing. You know what to do best. I just need to listen and act.
