Scripture: 1 Corinthians 2:1
Dear brothers and sisters, when I first came to you I didn’t use lofty words and brilliant ideas to tell you God’s message.
Observation: Paul didn’t “flower-up” his language to impress those to whom he was speaking and sharing God’s message.
Application: This is encouraging to me. Sometimes I worry that I am just speaking or writing what I hear and that my thoughts may not be deemed as being “deep” enough or impressive-sounding. However, perhaps by sharing my first thoughts and impressions, I am allowing myself to better hear and share the Holy Spirit’s guiding, rather than messing it up with all of my analysis. Hmm.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for continuing to reassure me that it is okay to talk about you without sounding lofty and perfect. Thank you for speaking to me and also using me as a vessel to speak to others. Please continue to guide me to keep myself quiet and not over analyze, but to instead pray, listen, write and ponder. And then pray some more. Thank you for revealing yourself to me everyday in so many ways.
