SOAP: Go away, you devil!

Anyone else out there feel like the devil can be relentless, nagging, pulling and frustrating you? I am SO ready for him to just LEAVE ME ALONE.

Let’s get him OUT OF HERE!

And so I present today’s SOAP…

Scripture

Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you." --James 4:7

Observation

Wanna get the devil off your back? Don’t do what he inspires. Instead, follow God’s instruction completely and the devil will run.

Application

So often it seems that when I am growing closer to God, the devil jumps in and tries to mess with me. Over and over. And over.

James is telling us here how to get the devil to flee: Submit to God. Resist the devil.

That sounds simple, and conceptually it is, but in action it can take a lot of thought and work.

Focus on the Lord. Love Him. Examine your true motives. Adjust when they are not completely honoring to Him and the devil will flee. He probably wants an easier target. So don’t let that easy target be be you. And help build others build their defense (or is it offense? I’ve heard the best defense is a good offense… or something like that.), showing them how to focus on God, how to submit to God and resist the devil.. and the devil will flee from them, too.

I don’t want the devil whispering or shouting in my ear. But he does. I need to make it crystal clear that he will not win. I am the Lord’s alone. Yep, I mess up, but my aim is true, I am working on examining and resetting all my motives. And when they are 100% focused on my Father and His mission for my life, the devil will not have any footholds, he will likely get frustrated and he will flee.

Prayer

Father God, thank you for loving me and reminding me to examine my life and my motives, being sure they are all where they should be. Help me to see where I need a reset and then please guide me in that reset.

I want to honor you. I want to do your will.

And I want the devil to flee. My heart is only for you.

Thank you, Lord, for so much.
