Scripture: Jeremiah 7:23
But I gave them this command: Obey me, and I will be your God and you will be my people. Walk in all the ways I command you, that it may go well with you.
Observation: Seek God and His will and follow it and things will go well.
Application: This comes from Chapter 27 of The Power of a Praying Wife, where we are praying for our husband’s obedience. Of course I certainly see the application for myself, too!
Seeking our will without checking in with the Father often leads to destruction. Our Father really does know what is best for us and how we can get there… but we will only know that if we actively pursue His will.
I know how challenging that can be for me sometimes. I so often want to jump ahead into something and forget (or don’t want) to ‘bother’ God with my questions. God wants us to go to Him… with big and little things. He wants us to seek His guidance and direction. Here’s is yet another verse telling us just that.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for wanting us to interrupt you and go to you and listen to you. Thank you for being there every single time we ask and wonder and give you our open ears and heart.
Please, Lord, help my husband, and other husbands, see how much you long to have us ask… and guide them in seeking, listening and responding in ways directed by you.
And please, Lord, guide me in not interrupting in your message. I am not in charge. You are. Remind me of this when I want to meddle. Remind me instead to also go to you, and let you guide me, as well.
Thank you for so many reminders to go to you and seek your will. It is obvious that you want the “interruption.” I bet it’s not even an interruption to you, at all. And what a lesson I can learn about parenting from that example, as well.
Thank you, Lord.
