I’m continuing toward the beginning of Psalm 121 today with some more SOAP. I’d love for you to join in and share your own thoughts on the scripture. This one was a tough one for me.
Scripture: Psalm 121:6
the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
Observation:
There will not be harm in the day or night.
Application:
Like the previous SOAP scripture, I think this one must have something to do with perspective.
Bad things and harm does happen. So perhaps what He is saying here is that He will guide us, He will watch over us, and He will see us through it all. Perhaps then, once we are in Heaven, we will see things differently. Perhaps He is saying here that He will always be with us and remove the worst harm, which would be separation from Him. (I am not a trained student of the Word, so please understand this is just my perspective and my own thoughts on this scripture. I welcome your thoughts and observations in the comments below this post.)
Prayer:
Lord, thank you for this reminder that you love me and will keep me from harm. Please help me to remember that when I face fear– and even before then to keep me from that. Thank you for your love. Thank you for your word. And thank you for never leaving me.
PS: I f you are memorizing along with me, here is what we should have memorized by now:
the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon at night.
The Lord will keep you from all harm–
he will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.
