Scripture: Psalm 34: 8
Taste and see that the Lord is good;
Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.
Observation: Try out the Lord. You will see that He is good and those who turn to Him are blessed.
Application: I came upon this verse through Chapter 13 of The Power of a Praying Wife, where we are praying for our husband’s trials. The reading took me to another verse within Psalm 34, but this one really stuck out to me this morning.
The Lord longs for us to rely on Him alone. Here David invites those who are apprehensive to just give the Lord a try, a taste. He says that those who do will not be disappointed, but will instead be blessed and rewarded.
Prayer:
Lord, I pray that my husband will lean on you. I pray that he will see that, in his submission to you, he will be strengthened.
I realize that my focus is to be on my husband as I work through the book, but I cannot help but see how much I need this verse right now, too. I want to solve all my problems. Instead I need to lay them ALL at your feet and ask for guidance.
So, Lord, you know my struggles. And you know G’s struggles, as well. Please show us your way to approach them. Guide us in honoring you and breaking through any struggles we face. You say that we will be blessed by tasting you. Please let G experience that and recognize those blessings as being gifts from you.
