Scripture: Ephesians 2:8
God saved you by his special favor when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God.
Observation: God’s gift of salvation is exactly that: a pure gift, given freely without cause. I didn’t do anything to earn it or not. He just gave it to me.
Application: Isn’t it amazing that the most important “achievement” of life is not an achievement at all? Eternal life with Jesus Christ and our Father is not anything we can earn. It can only be “achieved” by no doing of our own. It is a gift bestowed by the Father himself. I can’t do anything to earn it. I can’t take credit for gaining it. It is a free gift to accept.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for your gift.
Thank you for freely sharing it with me.
So often things on earth are competitions and so often things on earth must be earned.
But here it is: the most important thing of all and you chose to give it to me freely. And with that you have given me a beautiful, inspirational relationship through which I can learn more and more moment by moment, just by opening my heart and listening to you.
Lord, thank you.
Thank you for giving me the one single most important thing, life in paradise with you as and forgiveness of all my sins.
The most important thing in life really is free. Thank you for that.
