SOAP: What I do doesn’t make me any more valuable

Scripture: Colossians 2:10

and you have been given fullness in Christ, who is the head over every power and authority.

Observation: Our identity and completion comes from Christ, who is the ultimate power and authority

Application:

This comes from Chapter 28 of The Power of a Praying Wife.

Although we often get caught in the trap of finding our identity and worth elsewhere, it actually comes from Christ. We can search and fill our days with other activities, but if we are doing that to increase our self-worth, we will never be truly satisfied until we recognize where our identity lies.

Prayer: Lord I am praying today not just for my husband, but also for myself.

Please guide us both in finding our worth only in you. Help us to realize that all the things we do will not increase our true worth. Guide us in glorifying you with our actions and finding joy in our days. But keep us focused on You as our true giver of worth.

Could this also mean we shouldn’t think more of a person for what they do (for other people) but for what they do for Jesus? In other words, what material things we have, what we do for others, what we do for us doesn’t count… it is what we do for Jesus that does? Does that make sense?

This devotional really blessed me! In a world where everyone see us as what our job is, thats how it seems people value women today. The world and most christians think if you do not work outside the home something is wrong with you, but its wonderful to know Jesus values me for being His child, and thats worth more than any grand career in the world! May God Bless You, and I really needed this devotional, thankyou Vickie
