Scripture: John 6:29
Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: believe in the one he has sent.”
Observation: To do the work of God, believe in Jesus Christ and who he is
Application: Perhaps this one sticks out because I am struggling with my task-oriented lifestyle. All I am required to do is believe. That’s it. The rest is gravy.
Sure, after believing I may be moved to other actions, but doing those actions to gain favor, won’t change things. True belief is the ticket to eternal life. That’s all I need. There aren’t any shiny halo contests.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for making it so simple to be with you. And please forgive me for making it more difficult than it needs to be. Please guide me in reevaluating my priorities so that I do things because they are truly your will, and not because I think they are going to earn me favor. I’ve already got your favor, no matter what. Thank you for that, Lord.
