Week 6 of Bible 180: They’re IN!

After many plagues and wandering, and the Israelites made it into the promised land, the land they were told would be theirs long before they actually took it. So much wandering. So much waiting.

And then, as they were getting ready to REALLY go, this week we kept reading “Be strong and courageous,” “Love the Lord your God,” and to keep His commands, over and over.

He was with them. He wanted them to have victory. He wanted to give them victory… and He wanted them to just STAY TRUE.

How often can we use this ourselves in life? I know I sure can. Hold these in your heart— and in your head, too:

  • Be strong and courageous.
  • Love the Lord your God.
  • Keep His commands.

And, since many of us have the benefit of knowing the New Testament and trusting Jesus, I’ll go ahead and add this one: Accept His forgiveness… because we all make mistakes and need forgiveness.

There is most definitely some tough stuff to read in here… we launched right into it in Genesis and Judges isn’t going to get any easier. I am so glad to be reading it alongside you and I am so glad to be reading it with the knowledge of the love of our God and the knowledge of the love of Christ. I hope you feel the same way.

In terms of reading, in general, this week I added a new section to my journaling. I added a prayers section where, after writing my observations in the reading I write out prayers that are on my mind. It had been a fantastic way to start my day and to pray right after reading His Word. I thought I’d mention it here in the event any of you might benefit from the idea.

I hope the reading is still going well for each of you.

Here’s the week 6 Bible 180 reading schedule:

Please do let me know you are still with me and how you are doing in the comments. Your notes are such an encouragement to me each week. Thank you SO much for reading with me.

In Love,

Hi Amy – I’m still here. Still behind, but I’m stressing about it. I finished reading Deuteronomy and started Joshua this week. You are 100 percent correct – Be Strong, Have Courage, STAY TRUE! These phrases have resonated with me this week. Life is crazy right now and my sweet man/child (A) was hurt playing football, not career ending but maybe season ending – so hard to watch him be disappointed but I KNOW that God has a plan. We are staying strong, being courageous and staying true.

  2. Still here!!! I’m behind but want to keep going!! I began subbing at my kids school, so I’m learning to carve out the time to read. Please pray I can catch up and that my Bible reading will be a holy time EVERY day!!!

    1. I am so glad you are still with us, Andrea! What an adventure subbing must be– especially now. :) Stay strong.. and yes, I will be praying for you in many ways, reading, of course, being part of that. In Him, Amy

  3. I am still here. I have fallen a little behind but keeping with it. Reading the word does bring such peace in tackle it “life”. I can’t thank you enough for the encouragement and keeping us together.

    1. Thank YOU, Susan. I am glad you are still reading with us, even if you are at a different pace. As I was telling Lee Ann, every page read is more time with Him, more wisdom gained. You are welcome here at whatever pace works for you. :)

  4. Still here! Loving this! Learning so much. I am amazed at how the Lord is growing me through this reading schedule. I’m seeing how the demands for my time anchor around my reading and how the Lord blesses my decisions to continue the reading. Thank you Amy for leading this. I can’t tell you in any amount of words how much this is meaning to me.

    1. Thank you so SO much for sharing this with me. I truly appreciate it. :))))) I love how you are seeing Him blessing you and I am grateful to Him for allowing me to be a part of the blessing. :)

  5. Thanks for your sharing Amy. At times it is was hard to read this week with all the rules, names, and fighting but throughout it all God was there reminding them to be strong and keep his commandments. He was with them and is there for us! I had the same thought as you that we are so lucky to know the New Testament and all that is to come. Have a blessed week!

    1. Thank you, Milly! Yes, he was there… and is here now, even in all of our struggles, too. :)
