We still have Halloween candy at our house. And I can’t bear to just toss it all in the trash (although a few handfuls have gone in each day). This morning, though, I asked the kids if they would like to set most of it aside to use for decorating baked goods in December… and they said “yes!” So when they get home from school we’ll go through it and make a “save for later” pile. And then we will just stick to that candy for our gingerbread houses or train cakes… no more trips to the candy aisle to tempt me to buy and try more.
This Halloween I re-discovered the hot-air popper. 3 cups of hot-air popped corn is only 1 WW point and doesn’t have any of the preservatives of microwave popcorn– bonus!
The kids were intrigued by the popper and I’ve been happy to snack (and share) guilt-free. And the popcorn has kept me away from the candy so far. Friday night I vowed to not have a piece of candy, so I popped a huge bowl of corn. And I’ve still yet to have any candy! (Woo-hooo!)
I’ve also been munching on nuts. I have a jar of dried nuts on the counter with a scoop. Often I’ll measure out ¼ cup and leave it in a bowl on the counter or put it in a zip bag and take it in my purse. This way, I know my limit and I’m getting a much healthier snack than most convenience foods.
And, of course, I have had a LOT of water this week. I can’t say it enough: Plain clean water will make a huge difference for you body and skin. Just drink it!
That’s all I have for you this week. I’m embarrassed to admit that I haven’t made it to my WW meeting for the past two times. I’m thankful I’m a lifetime member and only required to weigh in monthly, but I know I’ve been missing out. Maybe I’ll find a way to squeeze something in before I report in Fit Friday.
