Scripture: Lamentations 3:22, 32
22Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,
For his compassions never fail.
32Though he brings grief, he will show compassion,
So great is his unfailing love.
Observation: Focusing and remembering the Lord’s love in times of distress can bring hope and comfort, as his compassion is never-ending, even when times seem tough.
Application: Much of what has been on my reading list lately tells of destruction and devastation as a result of the Lord’s wrath.
These verses remind me that, although there is much grief, the Lord’s love is great and it is stronger than any devastation.
When facing trials, it is critical to not blame the Lord and question his love, but instead it is time to focus on his love and know he WILL see you through. Seeing you through, though, may not bring worldly pleasure, joy or success. It will bring you eternal life with Him, however, which is lasting.
Prayer: Lord, you have blessed me and blessed me and blessed me many times over… more than I even realize. Thank you for all those blessings, and for your forgiveness that I take so many of those blessings for granted. Please use me however you wish to bless others. And, when hard times hit, don’t let my faith waiver… Continue to build my foundation so it is stronger than Satan can crack. I want to be strengthened only by your love so I’ll always know where to look. Thank you, Lord, for your Son and your Word so that I may grow and learn and be yours.
