Scripture: Jeremiah 10:23-24
23This is what the Lord says:
“Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom
or the strong man boast of his strength
or the rich man boast of his riches,
24 but let him who boasts boast about this:
that he understands and knows me,
that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness,
justice and righteousness on earth,
for in these I delight,”
Observation: Don’t boast about wordly things. If ya gotta boast, though, boast about the Lord.
Application: Boasting takes on a lot of forms. And boasting shows what you value. When I catch myself being boastful about something, I need to stop and evaluate what it is and why I am doing it. Am I placing value on useless wordly things? Or am I showing my love of the Lord?
Prayer: Thank you Lord for this reminder of what you value and what I should value as well. Please continue to guide me, and keep me from boasting about wordly things. And thank you, Lord for giving me your love and kindness to boast about when I feel the need to boast.
