I hope you have had a lovely weekend so far. If you are reading the Proverbs in 31 Days with me, today (Sunday) we are reading Proverbs chapter 13.
If you are just joining us, feel free to either read from the beginning of Proverbs or just just jump in right here with us. The goal of this program is more to get you in a regular routine of reading, listening and possibly SOAPing your way through, than to be strict about reading every word. (I’ll do that when we do the Bible in 90 Days! :) )
My hope for you is that, through this, you will come to crave your Bible reading time and find a way to make it touch your life every time. (That is why I love SOAP so much!)
Here is what I heard today:
Scripture: Proverbs 13:20
He who walks with the wise grows wise,
but a companion of fools suffers harm.
Observation:
Whom you hang out with can determine your path. Want wisdom and a good, solid path? Hang out with those who are wise and on that path.
Application:
I am thankful that God put me in a position to be friends with some amazing women.
Whom I hang out with can definitely influence me, whether I realize it or not.
Yes, it is important to reach out to those whom God may put in your path to help, but it is also important to take a step back and surround yourself with some wiser, more experienced people so that you can grow. If not, you can easily be led down the wrong path. Hanging out with wisdom brings wisdom. And hanging out with the not-so-wise can send you down a path of bad decisions, too.
What does your circle of influence look like?
Prayer:
Lord, thank you for this reminder today that I need to walk with the wise. You have been nudging me to get going on a micro-group for accountability. Guess it is time to really roll on that one!
Please, Lord, place me in the midst of wise women, help me to learn from them. And help me to also be a help when the time is right for that, too.
Thank you for the wisdom you have already put in my path. Please guide me in seeking it and using it.
What about you?
What did you hear today in the reading?
